Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Scoop the Ice Cream

Scoop the vanilla ice cream into 4 equal balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for at least 1 hour, or until very firm.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Pound Cake

While the ice cream is freezing, slice the pound cake into 1-inch thick slices. Carefully wrap each ice cream ball in a slice of pound cake, ensuring the ice cream is fully covered. Return the wrapped ice cream to the freezer for at least 30 minutes.

Batter Preparation

  1. 3

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until a smooth batter forms.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Fry the Ice Cream

Remove the wrapped ice cream from the freezer. Dip each piece into the batter, coating it evenly. Carefully place it into the hot oil and fry for about 30 seconds, or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried ice cream and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve the Fried Ice Cream

Drizzle honey over the fried ice cream and sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Serve immediately while hot.
