Method

Beef Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, soy sauce, and lemon juice. Mix well. Add the flank steak to the marinade, ensuring it is fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade. Cook the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached.

  3. 3

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for about 5 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.

Rice Preparation

  1. 4

    Rinse the Rice

In a fine mesh strainer, rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch.

  2. 5

    Cook the Rice

In a saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes.

  3. 6

    Fluff the Rice

After the rice has rested, uncover and fluff with a fork before serving.
