Method
To Prepare the Mozzarella Sticks
- 1
- 2
Coat the Cheese
Take each mozzarella stick and first coat it in the flour, shaking off the excess. Next, dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, roll it in the bread crumbs until fully coated. Repeat for all cheese sticks.
- 3
Freeze the Cheese Sticks
Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 30 minutes. This step helps to ensure they maintain their shape while frying.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Mozzarella Sticks
Carefully add the frozen mozzarella sticks to the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve the crispy mozzarella sticks hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
To Prepare the Marinara Sauce
- 7
Sauté the Garlic
In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- 8
- 9
Simmer the Sauce
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
- 10
Serve
Once the sauce is ready, serve it warm alongside the mozzarella sticks.
