Prepare the Beef Patty
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Form the Patty
Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help it cook evenly.

Add Cheese
Flip the patties and place a slice of American cheese on each patty. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patty is cooked to your desired doneness.

Assemble the Cheeseburger
On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf and a slice of tomato. Add the cooked beef patty with melted cheese on top, followed by a tablespoon of house sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.

Serve
Serve the cheeseburgers immediately with your choice of sides.
