Method

Burger

  1. 1

    Prepare the Burger Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently without overworking the meat. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

  3. 3

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese. Top with tomato slices, onion slices, and pickles. Add ketchup and mustard to taste. Place the top half of the bun on each burger.

Fries

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into even-sized sticks (fries) about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 6

    Soak the Fries

Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat them dry with a paper towel.

  3. 7

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 8

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the soaked and dried fries to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 5-6 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 9

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle with salt to taste. Serve immediately alongside the burgers.
