For Ice Cream
In a mixing bowl, whisk together heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar is dissolved. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency. Transfer to a container and freeze for at least 4 hours until firm.

For Sorbet
Puree fresh fruit in a blender until smooth. In a mixing bowl, combine fruit puree, granulated sugar (to taste), and a pinch of salt. If desired, add a little water to adjust the consistency. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions. Transfer to a container and freeze for at least 4 hours until firm.

Serving Suggestions
Scoop the ice cream or sorbet into bowls and top with hot fudge or strawberry sauce, as desired.
