Burger Patty

Caramelized Onions

Method

Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patty

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patty

Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the hot surface and cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

Garlic Aioli

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, and salt until smooth.

  2. 6

    Chill

Cover the aioli and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Caramelized Onions

  1. 7

    Cook Onions

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and salt, cooking for about 20-25 minutes until they are soft and caramelized, stirring occasionally.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Toast Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 9

    Assemble the Burger

Spread a generous amount of garlic aioli on the bottom half of each bun. Layer with lettuce, a burger patty with melted cheese, caramelized onions, heirloom tomato slices, and house-made pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
