Method

Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.

  6. 6

    Pour Batter

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. 8

    Cool

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely on a wire rack.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 9

    Prepare Frosting

In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined.

  2. 10

    Add Vanilla and Cream

Stir in the vanilla extract and heavy cream. Beat on high speed for 3 minutes until fluffy.

  3. 11

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread a layer of frosting on the top of one cake layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the whole cake.
