Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder until well combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk and melted butter. Mix until smooth.

  3. 3

    Form the Dough

Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms. Knead lightly on a floured surface until smooth, about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Rest the Dough

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Filling Preparation

  1. 5

    Cook the Filling

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.

  2. 6

    Add Vegetables

Add the finely chopped onion, minced garlic, and grated carrot to the beef. Cook until the vegetables are soft, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 7

    Season the Filling

Stir in the salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix well and remove from heat.

Assembly and Cooking

  1. 8

    Prepare for Baking

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the rested dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick.

  2. 9

    Fill and Shape

Cut the rolled dough into circles (about 4 inches in diameter). Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each circle, fold in half, and seal the edges with a fork.

  3. 10

    Bake the Pies

Place the filled pies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Serving

  1. 11

    Serve with Toppings

Allow the pies to cool slightly before serving. Top each pie with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of chopped chives.
