Method
Flan Base Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 2
Mix the Flan Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
Caramel Sauce Preparation
- 3
- 4
Coat the Flan Mold
Immediately pour the caramel into a flan mold or individual ramekins, tilting to coat the bottom evenly before it hardens.
Baking the Flan
- 5
Combine Flan Mixture and Bake
Pour the flan mixture over the hardened caramel in the mold. Place the mold in a larger baking dish filled with hot water (water bath) and bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the flan is set and a toothpick comes out clean.
- 6
Cool and Chill
Once baked, remove the flan from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
Serving the Flan
- 7
Unmold and Serve
To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan to loosen it. Invert onto a plate and let the caramel sauce drizzle over the flan. Slice and enjoy!
