Meatballs

Jamon Tomato Sauce

Method

Meatballs Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Meatball Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, minced garlic, chopped onion, parsley, cumin powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, egg, and breadcrumbs. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Shape Meatballs

Using your hands, shape the mixture into small meatballs, roughly 1 inch in diameter. Place the meatballs on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Cooking Meatballs

  1. 3

    Bake Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

Jamon Tomato Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional 2 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Jamon

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, diced jamon, bay leaves, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 6

    Finish with Basil

Once the sauce has thickened, remove from heat and stir in the chopped basil.

Combine and Serve

  1. 7

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are baked, add them to the sauce in the skillet. Let them simmer in the sauce for an additional 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve the albondigas warm, garnished with additional fresh parsley or basil if desired.
