Pizza Dough and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Baking
- 1
Make the Dough
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- 2
Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- 5
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to the highest temperature, typically around 475°F (245°C).
- 6
Prepare the Toppings
Slice the fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. Tear basil leaves for topping.
- 7
Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- 8
Add Toppings
Transfer the dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the sliced tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil evenly over the dough. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
- 9
Bake the Pizza
Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
- 10
Serve
Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, slice, and enjoy your Margherita Pizza!
