1. Prepare the Calamari

Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.

2. Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. In another bowl, beat the egg and mix it with the milk.

3. Coat the Calamari

Dip each calamari ring into the egg and milk mixture, then dredge it in the flour mixture, ensuring it is well-coated.

4. Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

5. Fry the Calamari

Fry the coated calamari rings in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pan.

6. Drain and Serve

Remove the fried calamari with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with lemon wedges and aioli on the side.
