Baking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven and Molds

Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water or in the microwave in short bursts until smooth. Stir well and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar and eggs until pale and frothy. This should take about 3-5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gently fold the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture. Add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, and mix until combined.

  5. 5

    Add Flour

Sift in the all-purpose flour and fold it in gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.

  7. 7

    Bake

Place the ramekins in the preheated oven and bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still soft.

  8. 8

    Serve

Allow the fondants to cool for a minute, then invert onto plates. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
