Tea Base
Milk and Garnish
Method
Prepare the Tea
- 1
Boil Water
In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil.
- 2
Steep Tea
Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat. Add 4 tablespoons of Thai black tea leaves to the water. Cover the saucepan and let it steep for about 5 minutes.
- 3
Strain the Tea
After steeping, strain the tea leaves from the liquid using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a heatproof container.
- 4
Sweeten the Tea
While the tea is still warm, stir in 4 tablespoons of sugar until fully dissolved. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled.
Assemble the Drink
- 5
Prepare Glass
Fill a tall glass with 1 cup of ice cubes.
- 6
Add Tea
Pour the chilled Thai tea over the ice in the glass until it is about 3/4 full.
- 7
Add Milk
In a separate small bowl, mix 3 tablespoons of condensed milk with 1 cup of evaporated milk. Slowly pour this milk mixture over the tea.
- 8
Garnish and Serve
Stir gently to combine the layers before drinking. Optionally, garnish with a sprig of mint or a slice of lime. Serve immediately.
