Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Sauce

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

Building Umami Flavor

  1. 3

    Add Anchovies and Miso

Stir in the chopped anchovy fillets and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until they dissolve into the oil. Add the miso paste and soy sauce, stirring until well combined.

  2. 4

    Combine with Pasta

Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce. Gradually add reserved pasta water as needed to achieve desired consistency.

Finishing Touches

  1. 5

    Add Cherry Tomatoes and Cheese

Fold in the halved cherry tomatoes and grated Parmesan cheese, mixing until everything is well combined and heated through.

  2. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat and stir in chopped basil. Season with sea salt and black pepper to taste. Serve immediately.
