Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Lobsters

Select fresh, live Maine lobsters. Ensure they are lively and active.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 cup of sea salt to the boiling water and stir until dissolved.

  2. 3

    Cook the Lobsters

Carefully add the lobsters to the boiling water, headfirst. Cover the pot with a lid and start timing. Boil the lobsters for 12-15 minutes, depending on their size. They should turn a bright red color when done.

  3. 4

    Remove and Drain

Once cooked, use tongs to remove the lobsters from the pot and place them in a colander to drain any excess water.

Serving

  1. 5

    Serve the Lobsters

Place the boiled lobsters on a serving platter. Melt the butter in a small saucepan and serve alongside the lobsters with lemon wedges for squeezing.
