Method
Preparing the Salad Base
- 1
Wash and Chop the Lettuce
Rinse the romaine lettuce under cold water. Remove any wilted leaves, then chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place in a large salad bowl.
Making Croutons
- 2
Prepare the Bread
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the French bread into small cubes, about 1-inch in size.
- 3
Season the Croutons
In a large bowl, toss the bread cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- 4
Bake the Croutons
Spread the seasoned bread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp, turning halfway through.
Making Caesar Dressing
- 5
Combine Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, anchovy paste, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.
- 6
Adjust Seasoning
Taste the dressing and adjust the salt and black pepper as needed. Set aside.
Assembling the Salad
- 7
Combine Everything
In the large salad bowl with the romaine lettuce, add the croutons and drizzle the Caesar dressing over the top.
- 8
Toss and Serve
Gently toss the salad until the lettuce and croutons are evenly coated with the dressing. Serve immediately.
