Method

Prepare Crab Ball Mixture

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, gently combine the lump crab meat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, parsley, egg, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Be careful not to break up the crab meat too much.

  2. 2

    Chill Mixture

Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to allow it to firm up and make the balls easier to form.

Form and Cook Crab Balls

  1. 3

    Shape Crab Balls

Using your hands or a small scoop, form the mixture into 1.5-inch balls. You should get about 12 crab balls.

  2. 4

    Heat Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 5

    Fry Crab Balls

Carefully place the crab balls into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry for 3–4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pan.

  4. 6

    Drain

Remove the crab balls with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serve

  1. 7

Serve the crab balls hot, garnished with chopped parsley and lemon wedges. Optionally, serve with tartar sauce or a spicy aioli for dipping.
