Method

Preparing the Fries

  1. 1

    Cook the Fries

Preheat the oven or fryer according to package instructions for the frozen French fries. If using a fryer, fill it with vegetable oil and heat to 350°F (175°C). If baking, spread the frozen fries on a baking sheet and drizzle with vegetable oil. Bake until golden and crispy, usually about 20-25 minutes.

Cooking the Carne Asada

  1. 2

    Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and lime juice. Add the flank steak and coat it well with the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour.

  2. 3

    Grill the Steak

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the leftover marinade. Grill the steak for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Remove from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing it thinly.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Fries

Once the fries are cooked, spread the refried beans over the hot fries. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top and return to the oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.

  2. 5

    Top with Carne Asada

Add the sliced carne asada on top of the cheese-covered fries.

  3. 6

    Finish with Toppings

Spoon the guacamole, pico de gallo, and a drizzle of sour cream over the top. Serve immediately while hot.
