Method

Prepare the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Rub the beef sirloin steak with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Make sure the steak is evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Chargrill the Steak

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until it reaches your desired doneness. Remove from grill and let it rest.

Prepare the Vegetables

  1. 3

    Slice the Vegetables

While the steak is grilling, slice the bell pepper and onion into thin strips.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a skillet over medium heat, add a little olive oil and sauté the sliced bell pepper and onion until they are softened, approximately 5-7 minutes.

Make the Tomato Sauce

  1. 5

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a saucepan, heat a bit of olive oil over medium heat. Add the small chopped onion and minced garlic cloves, cooking until the onion is translucent.

  2. 6

    Add the Crushed Tomatoes

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 10-15 minutes until thickened. Stir in chopped fresh cilantro before serving.

Assemble the Dish

  1. 7

    Combine All Components

Slice the rested steak against the grain. On a plate, layer the tomato sauce, top it with the sautéed bell peppers and onions, and then place the sliced steak on top.

  2. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish with additional cilantro if desired and serve warm with rice or tortillas.
