Prepare the Berries
Macerate the mixed berries by combining them in a bowl with a tablespoon of sugar. Let them sit for about 15 minutes until they release their juices.

Make the Flapjack Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, buttermilk, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined.

Cook the Flapjacks
Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Pour 1/4 cup of the batter onto the skillet for each flapjack. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
