Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Apples

Wash the apples thoroughly and cut them into quarters. You can leave the skin on for added nutrients.

  2. 2

    Cook the Apples

In a large pot, combine the quartered apples and 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, or until the apples are soft.

  3. 3

    Mash and Strain

Using a potato masher, mash the cooked apples to release their juice. Place a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth over a bowl and pour the mashed apple mixture into it. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes to allow the juice to strain through.

  4. 4

    Sweeten and Flavor

After straining, you should have fresh apple juice. Stir in sugar and lemon juice to taste. If desired, add cinnamon for extra flavor.

  5. 5

    Serve

Chill the apple juice in the refrigerator or serve immediately over ice. Enjoy your homemade apple juice!
