Method

Prepare the Seafood

  1. 1

Rinse the mussels and clams under cold water to remove any sand or debris. Discard any that are open and do not close when tapped.

Make the Garlic Crostini

  1. 2

    Slice the Baguette

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch thick slices.

  2. 3

    Brush with Olive Oil

Place the slices on a baking sheet. Brush each slice lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder.

  3. 4

    Bake the Crostini

Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Remove and set aside.

Cook the Mussels and Clams

  1. 5

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped shallots, and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 6

    Add Liquids

Pour in the white wine (or marinara sauce if preferred) and bring it to a simmer.

  3. 7

    Add Seafood

Add the mussels and clams to the pot, cover, and let them steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until the shells open.

  4. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Once cooked, remove from heat, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve immediately with lemon wedges and garlic crostini.
