Steak Shawarma Ingredients

Method

Steak Shawarma Directions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a large bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, paprika, ground cinnamon, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Add the flank steak and coat it well in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and let excess marinade drip off. Grill the steak for about 6-7 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Slice the Steak

After resting, thinly slice the steak against the grain.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Sauce

In a bowl, mix the yogurt with chopped fresh parsley, salt, and pepper to taste.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Shawarma

Warm the pita bread on the grill for a minute. Place the sliced steak inside the pita, and top with diced tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, and a drizzle of the yogurt sauce.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the steak shawarma immediately with extra yogurt sauce on the side.
