Cocktail Preparation
Chill the Glass
Begin by chilling a rocks glass or a cocktail glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water and letting it sit while you prepare the drink.
Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of Maker's Mark Bourbon, 1 oz of Sweet Vermouth, and 2 dashes of Angostura Bitters.
Add Ice
Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes (approximately 1 cup) and stir gently for about 30 seconds to chill and dilute the mixture.
Strain the Mixture
Remove the ice water from your chilled glass. Using a strainer, pour the mixture from the mixing glass into the chilled rocks or cocktail glass.
Garnish
Express the oils from a piece of orange peel over the drink by holding it over the glass and gently twisting it. Drop the peel into the drink as a garnish.
