Clean the Clams
Rinse the clams under cold water to remove any sand or debris. Soak them in a bowl of water for about 20 minutes to help release any additional sand.

Prepare the Basil
Roughly chop the fresh basil leaves and set aside.

Add Wine and Tomatoes
Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the alcohol to evaporate slightly. Then, add the crushed tomatoes, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.

Cook the Clams
Add the cleaned clams to the pot, cover, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until the clams open. Discard any clams that do not open.

Once the clams are cooked, stir in the chopped fresh basil and cook for an additional minute.
