Method
Bread Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture along with olive oil.
- 3
Knead Dough
Mix the ingredients together until they form a dough. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- 5
Shape and Second Rise
Punch down the risen dough, shape it into a loaf or rolls. Place on a baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- 6
Bake
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before slicing.
Sandwich Assembly
- 7
Slice Bread
Once the bread is cooled, slice it in half horizontally to create sandwich halves.
- 8
Layer Ingredients
Layer salami, prosciutto, provolone cheese, lettuce, sliced tomato, and pickles on one half of the bread.
- 9
Top and Serve
Place the other half of the bread on top and slice into individual sandwiches. Serve with a side salad.
House Side Salad
- 10
Prepare Salad
In a large bowl, combine mixed greens, halved cherry tomatoes, and sliced cucumber. Toss gently.
Homemade Dressing
- 11
Mix Dressing Ingredients
In a small bowl or jar, combine olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, honey, salt, and black pepper. Whisk or shake until well combined.
- 12
