Crab Cake Ingredients

Method

Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the fresh lump crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Gently fold the ingredients together to ensure the crab meat remains intact.

  2. 2

    Add Vegetables and Bind

Add the finely chopped green onions to the mixture. Then, incorporate the beaten eggs and bread crumbs. Mix everything gently until the ingredients are combined but not overworked.

  3. 3

    Form the Crab Cakes

Using your hands, form the crab mixture into patties about 3 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick. Place the formed patties on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them firm up.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. The oil should be hot enough for frying, but not smoking.

  5. 5

    Fry the Crab Cakes

Once the oil is hot, carefully place the crab cakes into the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, remove the crab cakes from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
