Calamari
Serving
Method
Preparation of Calamari
- 1
Clean the Calamari
Begin by cleaning the calamari. Remove the head and innards, and peel off the outer skin. Cut the body into rings about 1/2 inch thick.
- 2
Breading and Frying
- 3
Bread the Calamari
Take each calamari ring, coat it in the flour mixture, dip it into the egg mixture, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs. Ensure each piece is well coated.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread; it should sizzle and turn golden brown.
- 5
Fry the Calamari
Carefully place the breaded calamari into the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the calamari and drain on paper towels.
