Cream Cheese Wonton Filling

Method

Assembly and Cooking

  1. 1

    Make the filling

In a medium bowl, beat or mash the softened cream cheese with the finely chopped green onions, soy sauce, garlic powder, granulated sugar, and salt until smooth and well combined.

  2. 2

    Prepare wrappers

Arrange wonton wrappers on a clean surface and cover with a damp towel to prevent drying.

  3. 3

    Fill wrappers

Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper.

  4. 4

    Seal edges

Lightly moisten the outer edges of the wrapper with water. Fold to enclose the filling and press the edges to seal; remove any air pockets.

  5. 5

    Assemble in batches

Continue filling and sealing the remaining wrappers, placing finished wontons on a tray in a single layer.

  6. 6

    Fry

In a deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the wontons in batches until golden brown and crisp, about 2–3 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Alternative cooking

    For a lighter option, bake at 425°F (220°C) for 8–10 minutes or air-fry at 400°F (200°C) for 6–8 minutes.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve hot with a dipping sauce of your choice.
