Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Broccoli

Rinse the broccoli head under cold water to remove any dirt or debris. Cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets, ensuring to include a bit of the stem for flavor.

Steaming Instructions

  1. 2

    Steam the Broccoli

Fill a pot with about 1 inch of water and bring it to a boil. Place the broccoli florets in a steamer basket and position it over the boiling water. Cover the pot with a lid and steam for 5-7 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and tender but still crisp.

  2. 3

    Season the Steamed Broccoli

Once steamed, remove the broccoli from the pot and season with salt and pepper to taste. Optionally, drizzle with olive oil for added flavor.

Sautéing Instructions

  1. 4

    Sauté the Broccoli

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. If using garlic, mince it and add it to the skillet. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  2. 5

    Add the Broccoli

Add the prepared broccoli florets to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the broccoli is tender and has a slight char.

  3. 6

    Season the Sautéed Broccoli

Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve warm as a side dish.
