Torte Ingredients

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and prepare an 8-inch round cake pan by greasing it and lining the bottom with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) and stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until well combined. Add the vanilla extract and mix thoroughly.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg and sugar mixture, stirring continuously until fully incorporated.

  5. 5

    Bake the Torte

Pour the mixture into the prepared cake pan and bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still slightly soft. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

  6. 6

    Prepare Whipped Cream

In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream and powdered sugar. Whip with a hand mixer or stand mixer until soft peaks form.

  7. 7

    Serve

Once the torte has cooled completely, dust the top with cocoa powder, sprinkle with fleur de sel, and serve slices with a dollop of whipped cream on the side.
