Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with flour to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the unsweetened chocolate and unsalted butter. Stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Mixing Ingredients

  1. 3

    Combine Sugar and Eggs

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, large eggs, and egg yolks until well combined and slightly frothy.

  2. 4

    Add Chocolate Mixture

Pour the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg mixture and stir until combined.

  3. 5

    Add Vanilla and Flour

Stir in the vanilla extract, all-purpose flour, and a pinch of salt until just combined. Do not overmix.

Baking

  1. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.

  2. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

Serving

  1. 8

    Cool and Serve

Let the cakes cool for 1 minute before carefully inverting them onto plates. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, fresh berries, and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.
