BBQ Sauce
Preparing the Ribs
1. Remove the Membrane
Place the ribs on a cutting board, bone side up. Use a knife to carefully lift a corner of the membrane at one end and then pull it off with your hands.
2. Season the Ribs
In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this mixture evenly over both sides of the ribs.
Making the Dry Rub
3. Combine Dry Rub Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
4. Apply the Dry Rub
Coat the ribs generously with the dry rub mixture. Ensure the ribs are well covered and let them sit for at least 30 minutes (or refrigerate overnight for more flavor).
Preparing the BBQ Sauce
5. Mix Sauce Ingredients
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, honey, and liquid smoke. Stir well and bring to a simmer.
6. Simmer the Sauce
Allow the sauce to simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and set aside.
Cooking the Ribs
7. Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).
8. Wrap Ribs
Wrap the seasoned ribs tightly in aluminum foil, creating a sealed packet.
9. Bake the Ribs
Place the foil-wrapped ribs on a baking sheet and bake for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are tender and the meat pulls away from the bone easily.
10. Glaze the Ribs
Remove the ribs from the oven and carefully unwrap the foil. Brush a generous amount of BBQ sauce over the ribs.
11. Broil for Finish
Place the ribs under the broiler for 5-7 minutes to caramelize the glaze. Watch closely to avoid burning.
