Pretzels

Beer Cheese Dip

Method

Pretzels

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Make Dough

Add flour, kosher salt, and melted butter to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.

  3. 3

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  4. 4

    Shape Pretzels

Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C). Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope and shape into a pretzel.

  5. 5

    Prepare Baking Soda Bath

In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil. Add each pretzel to the boiling water for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  6. 6

    Top Pretzels

Brush each pretzel with water and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and let cool slightly.

Beer Cheese Dip

  1. 8

    Prepare Cheese Mixture

In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine cream cheese and cheddar cheese. Stir until melted and smooth.

  2. 9

    Add Beer and Seasonings

Gradually add beer while stirring until combined. Add mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and paprika. Mix until smooth and heated through.

  3. 10

    Adjust Flavor

Taste the dip and add hot sauce as desired to achieve your preferred level of spiciness.

  4. 11

    Serve

Remove from heat and serve warm with pretzels for dipping.
