Cooking the Pasta
- 1
Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 4-5 liters of water to a rolling boil. Once boiling, add 1 teaspoon of salt.
- 2
Cook the Pasta
Add 200 grams of spaghetti or fettuccine to the boiling water. Cook according to the package instructions (usually around 8-10 minutes) until al dente.
- 3
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, reserve about 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta in a colander.
Making the Buttered Pasta
- 4
Melt the Butter
In the same pot used for cooking the pasta, reduce the heat to low and add 50 grams of unsalted butter. Allow it to melt gently, swirling the pot occasionally.
- 5
- 6
Add Parmesan
Sprinkle 50 grams of grated Parmesan cheese over the pasta. Toss again to combine, adding a bit of reserved pasta water if the mixture seems dry.
- 7
Season
Add black pepper to taste, tossing the pasta to distribute the seasoning evenly.
