Cake Base

1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

3. Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the sugar and beat until light and fluffy.

4. Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

5. Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.

6. Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

7. Cool the Cake

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Strawberry Filling

8. Prepare the Strawberries

While the cake is cooling, wash and hull the strawberries. Cut them into halves or quarters based on your preference.

9. Mix Strawberries with Sugar

In a mixing bowl, combine the cut strawberries with the granulated sugar and lemon juice. Toss gently to coat and let them sit for about 15 minutes to release their juices.

Whipped Cream Topping

10. Whip the Cream

In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream with a hand mixer or stand mixer until soft peaks form.

11. Add Sugar and Vanilla

Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract to the whipped cream, and continue beating until stiff peaks form.

Assembly

12. Layer the Cake

Once the cake is completely cooled, cut it into bars. Place one bar on a serving plate, top with a generous amount of strawberry filling, and then add a dollop of whipped cream on top.

13. Serve
