Dough

Method

Prepare the Dough

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Make Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.

Prepare the Filling

  1. 4

    Cook the Steak

Season the steak with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until desired doneness. Remove from heat and let it rest before slicing.

  2. 5

    Sauté Vegetables

In the same skillet, add chopped onion and bell pepper. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened.

  3. 6

    Combine Filling

Slice the cooked steak and mix it with sautéed vegetables, pizza sauce, and pizza cheese in a bowl.

Assemble and Bake

  1. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 8

    Roll Out Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a large circle, about ¼ inch thick.

  3. 9

    Fill Calzone

Place the filling mixture on one half of the dough circle. Fold the other half over and seal the edges by crimping with a fork.

  4. 10

    Egg Wash

Brush the top of the calzone with beaten egg and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.

  5. 11

    Bake

Place the calzone on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

  6. 12

    Serve

Allow the calzone to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm with extra pizza sauce on the side.
