Dough

Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water (3 ml) and sugar (1 tsp). Sprinkle the active dry yeast (1 tbs) over the water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour (2 cups), salt (1 tsp), and olive oil (1 tbs). Gradually add the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.

Pulled Pork Preparation

  1. 4

    Season the Pork

Rub the pork shoulder (2 lbs) with onion powder (1 tsp), garlic powder (1 tsp), smoked paprika (1 tsp), salt (1 tsp), and black pepper (1 tsp).

  2. 5

    Cook the Pork

Place the seasoned pork in a slow cooker. Pour BBQ sauce (1 cup) over the top. Cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the meat is tender and easily shredded.

  3. 6

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Mix the shredded pork with the remaining BBQ sauce in the cooker.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

  2. 8

    Roll Out the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a pizza shape.

  3. 9

    Add the Toppings

Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the pulled pork mixture evenly over the dough. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese (2 cups) on top and add sliced red onion (1 medium).

  4. 10

    Bake the Pizza

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  5. 11

    Garnish and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, sprinkle with chopped fresh cilantro (1 tbs), slice, and serve hot.
