Soda Ingredients

Method

Soda Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Orange Syrup

In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of granulated sugar and 1 liter of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  2. 2

    Add Flavorings

Once the sugar is dissolved, remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in 1 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice, 1 tsp of orange zest, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, and 1 tsp of citric acid. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

  3. 3

    Cool the Syrup

Allow the orange syrup mixture to cool to room temperature. This will take about 15-20 minutes.

  4. 4

    Combine with Carbonated Water

Once the syrup is cooled, in a large pitcher, combine the cooled syrup with 1 liter of carbonated water. Stir gently to mix without losing carbonation.

  5. 5

    Adjust Color (Optional)

If desired, add 2 drops of food coloring to enhance the color of the soda. Stir gently to combine.

  6. 6

    Serve

Pour the orange soda into glasses filled with ice and enjoy your refreshing homemade orange soda!
