Pickling Brine

Vegetables

Method

Prepare the Brine

  1. 1

    Mix the Brine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of water, 1 cup of white vinegar, 1 tablespoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Stir until the salt and sugar are fully dissolved.

  2. 2

    Add Spices

Add 1 tablespoon of dill seeds, 4 crushed garlic cloves, and 1 teaspoon of black peppercorns to the brine mixture. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  3. 3

    Cool the Brine

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and let the brine cool to room temperature.

Prepare the Vegetables

  1. 4

    Prepare the Cucumbers

Wash the cucumbers thoroughly. If desired, slice them into spears or leave them whole depending on your preference.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Jars

In clean, sterilized jars, place the prepared cucumbers and pack them tightly. Add fresh dill sprigs on top of the cucumbers.

Pickling Process

  1. 6

    Pour the Brine

Once the brine has cooled, pour it over the cucumbers in the jars, ensuring they are fully submerged.

  2. 7

    Seal the Jars

Seal the jars tightly with lids and let them sit at room temperature for 1 hour.

  3. 8

    Refrigerate

After 1 hour, transfer the jars to the refrigerator. Allow the pickles to pickle for at least 24 hours before consuming for the best flavor.
