Method

Vegetables Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Vegetables

Wash the lettuce, tomatoes, and onion thoroughly. Tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces. Slice the tomatoes into thin rounds and thinly slice the onion.

Tzatziki Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the Tzatziki Sauce

Grate the cucumber and squeeze out the excess moisture using a clean kitchen towel. In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well until smooth and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.

Gyro Preparation

  1. 3

    Cook the Gyro Meat

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the gyro meat according to package instructions until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. If using fresh gyro meat, cook until internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Gyro Grilled Sub

Warm the pita bread on the grill for about 1 minute per side. Place a generous amount of cooked gyro meat on the pita. Top with the prepared lettuce, sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, and a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce. Fold the pita and serve immediately.
