Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.

  3. 3

    Let Dough Rise

Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare Filling

In a medium bowl, combine grilled chicken, bacon bits, ranch dressing, mozzarella cheese, and cheddar cheese. Mix well.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 6

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a large circle, about 12 inches in diameter.

  3. 7

    Add Filling

Place the filling mixture on one half of the dough, leaving a border around the edge.

  4. 8

    Fold and Seal

Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and crimp the edges to seal the calzone.

  5. 9

    Add Toppings

Brush the calzone with olive oil and sprinkle garlic powder and Parmesan cheese on top.

  6. 10

    Bake

Place the calzone on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. 11

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.
