Method
Preparing the Patties
- 1
Mix the Ground Beef
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix thoroughly using your hands or a spoon until well combined.
- 2
Form Patties
Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ½ inch thick.
Cooking the Patties
- 3
Grill the Patties
Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
- 4
Add Cheese
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.
Assembling the Sub
- 5
Prepare the Sub Rolls
While the patties are cooking, slice the submarine rolls in half lengthwise without cutting all the way through, ensuring they remain connected on one side.
- 6
Add the Patties
Once the patties are cooked and cheese is melted, place one patty into each sub roll.
- 7
Layer Toppings
Top each burger with a handful of lettuce, slices of tomato, onion rings, and pickles.
- 8
Grilling the Subs
- 9
Grill the Assembled Subs
Place the assembled subs back on the grill for about 2-3 minutes, or until the bread is toasted and the toppings are heated through.
