Method
Preparing the Dough
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well to ensure an even distribution of salt.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough begins to form.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 7-10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
- 5
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Assembling and Baking
- 6
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 7
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles. Roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
- 8
Cut the Sticks
Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide.
- 9
Add Toppings
Transfer the dough strips to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top. Then, sprinkle the garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
- 10
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the edges are golden brown.
- 11
Serve with Marinara
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
