Method
Cooking the Pasta
- 1
Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a rolling boil over high heat.
- 2
Cook the Fettucine
Add the fettucine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes.
- 3
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside. Reserve 1 cup of the pasta cooking water for later use.
Making the Alfredo Sauce
- 4
Melt the Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter until it bubbles.
- 5
Add Garlic
Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- 6
Add Heavy Cream
Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 7
Add Parmesan Cheese
Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until fully melted and incorporated into the sauce.
- 8
Season the Sauce
Add salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste, adjusting as necessary.
Combining Pasta and Sauce
- 9

Add the cooked fettucine to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Toss well to coat the pasta in the sauce.
- 10

If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to achieve desired consistency.
- 11
Garnish and Serve
Remove from heat, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve immediately.
