Haloumi Cigars Ingredients

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filling

In a bowl, grate the halloumi cheese. Add the chopped parsley, black pepper, and salt. Mix well until combined.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Phyllo Dough

Lay out one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface. Brush lightly with olive oil. Place another sheet on top and brush again with olive oil.

  3. 3

    Fill and Roll

Cut the layered phyllo dough into long strips (about 5 inches wide). Place a tablespoon of the halloumi mixture at one end of the strip. Roll it tightly into a cigar shape, tucking in the sides as you roll.

  4. 4

    Prepare for Baking

Place the rolled cigars on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with olive oil and sprinkle nigella seeds on top.

  5. 5

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and bake the cigars for 20-25 minutes or until golden and crispy.

  6. 6

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm as an appetizer or snack.
