Method
Preparation
- 1
Fermentation
Crush the grapes thoroughly and place them in a fermentation container. Allow the mixture to ferment for several weeks until the natural sugars convert into alcohol.
- 2
Distillation
After fermentation, distill the grape mash to extract the alcohol. Collect the distillate and ensure that the anise flavor is infused during this stage.
- 3
Anise Infusion
Add the anise seeds to the distilled grape alcohol. Let it steep for at least 24 hours to fully extract the flavors.
- 4
Dilution
Dilute the anise-infused distillate with distilled water to achieve the desired alcohol volume, typically around 50-60% ABV.
- 5
Aging
Transfer the resulting arak into oak barrels for aging. Allow it to mature for five years, ensuring that it develops a rich flavor profile.
