Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook Pasta

Add the elbow macaroni to the boiling water, and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

Making Cheese Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt Butter

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Add Flour

Stir in the all-purpose flour, and cook for about 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.

  3. 6

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in the milk to avoid lumps, and continue stirring until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.

  4. 7

    Add Cheeses

Reduce heat to low, and add the shredded cheddar cheese and cream cheese. Stir until the cheeses are melted and the sauce is creamy.

  5. 8

    Season Sauce

Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and mustard powder to the cheese sauce. Mix well.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 9

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained macaroni to the cheese sauce, and stir until the pasta is evenly coated.
